So, what is a rescue flower?

A rescue flower is …

a flower which can no longer be sold because of age or damage, but which can be cleaned up and last long enough to bring joy to someone.

The rescue flowers we donate should be strong enough to last 3-4 days, though some - like carnations! - can last a long while.

Many of the flowers we rescue come from bulk packages at wholesalers, where a few in a bulk package have gone bad and so the package can't be sold. We separate and compost the real bad stuff (moldy, broken or otherwise damaged), and then clean and trim the rest.

We also rescue flowers after events - what the guests don't take home we collect, sort, clean and rehydrate.

We are able to rescue flowers thanks to hundreds of awesome volunteers - some of whom come with a deep flower knowledge, some of whom are total newbies! We pour a dose of love and cheer into each flower we rescue.
