Flower fairies / Kukkakeijut

Are you passionate about connecting with people in your community, and excited to share the beauty and joy of flowers?

Consider becoming a Kukkakeiju volunteer with FloweRescue ry

Each kukkakeiju adopts one of our elder care home or community partners and helps to facilitate meaningful flower art workshops once per month. The kukkakeiju volunteers:

💐  Receive basic flower skills training from our designer/trainer, Johanna Uuttu-Kaukonen, and have the opportunity for continuing education if you want to learn more

💐  Choose one of our community partners in their neighborhood and go once per month to help the staff run a flower art workshop (bouquets, arrangements, flower crafts)

💐  The partner hosts will handle the workshop logistics, Kukkakeiju are there to assist and engage participants, chat, play and share stories.

💐  Help us to observe the well-being impacts of engaging with flowers (the emotional, social and physical benefits)

💐 Document the fun and the joy with photos and stories

FloweRescue is a community of flower lovers ensuring no flower goes to waste before bringing joy to someone.

Our Kukkia Kaikille (Flowers for Everyone) program works to help senior citizens in Helsinki enhance their well-being through access to regular flower art activities. In this program, we train elder care practitioners to organize and lead flower workshops at elder care homes and community centers.

The Kukkakeiju volunteers bring their warmth, joy and enthusiasm for flowers to make these workshops even more special for the participants!

Each Kukkakeiju receives our flower skills training (so previous flower experience is a bonus, but not necessary!); and though the workshops at the care homes are conducted primarily in Finnish, English-speakers are also encouraged to sign up.

If you are interested in the Kukkakeiju volunteer opportunity, send us an email and we'll let you know about the date of the next Kukkakeiju info session:
